We’re getting more nervous by the day. Why are we
getting nervous? It’s because we care.
We care that you get a great race, we care that you
get great bling, a great T-shirt and great photos to
remember The Elements by. For some of you, you
will have never done anything like this before, for
others you go crawling around in the mud most
weekends just like Mrs Smevs and I.
So what is The Elements about?
We have created an event for everyone. From the
beginner to the die hard mud fan, (that’s us) which
is why we have 4 different distances the 8, 16, 24,
and 32km or otherwise known as Earth, Wind, Water
and Fire. Each lap will get harder the further you get
in to the course, the Earth 8k is all about fun and we
expect most to come back with a smile on their face,
but then The Elements step things up a notch with
forfeits for failure of obstacles being introduced at the
16k point and the forfeits will become harder with
further distances or extra carries for you to deal with.
Add to that the fact that everything will be multiplied
by the number of the lap you’re on, the Fire 32km lap
could be very painful for some. We can hear everyone
moaning about it being laps, and yes we are moaning
with you but the truth of the matter is it’s a new race
and we want it loaded with obstacles so while we’re
still growing, we needed to start this way.
So what do we have planned for you?
Most of you will know that we bought all the Dirty
Dozen obstacles. Why? Because they are awesome
and it was one of our favourite races which we were
sad to see go. We have all the favourites, the monkey
bars, the rings and all the big walls, but these will
be back with new names and we’ve added our
own touch to some. We have loads more surprises
which we’re saving for the day. We don’t want to give
everything away do we?
So who are the Race Directors?
We are known as Mr (me) and Mrs Smevs. We like
to get in the mud a couple of times a month, some
races we run just for fun, and others we take a bit
more seriously and run for position so we see things
from both sides. We have both qualified for the
The countdown is on and The Elements is getting closer...
European and World Championships this year which
we will be attending and are very much looking
forward to. Mrs Smevs loves the mud so much
that even on race day she will be leading out and
introducing loads of newbies to the mud in the 1pm
Earth 8km wave, even we have to earn The Elements
bling and Tshirt.
What else can you expect on the day?
As I said before, we want to create an event for
everyone. We have The Mini Military Mud Run with
us holding the kids race. Not just any kids race, we
are talking an award winning kids race. They really
are the best in the business.
We have Hatti with us who will be setting up the
OCReche so you can check the kids in while you go
and run.
We also have the one and only Stuart Amory taking
to the mic to keep you all entertained with a little
song and dance, so either bring your dancing shoes
or your ear plugs, you decide! The events village
will be filled with a bar, places to eat, Sports Care
Revolution, Ocr Bears, My sports and more, plus
many more.
Final thoughts
So as you are all reading this with your feet up having
a cup of tea, we are running around looking after 3
kids, running our other business and building you
some great obstacles all ready for the 3rd June. If
you haven’t signed up yet, then you need to ask
yourself why not?
