More Miles Cheviot 3
Weight:
I normally prefer a really lightweight shoe
both in training and when I’m racing, particularly if
there’s a lot of mud & water so I was a bit sceptical
as these felt a little heavier. However, once running,
they didn’t feel overly heavy.
Comfort:
Very comfortable, probably one of the
comfiest pair of trainers I’ve worn for OCR. I have
quite wide feet so any trainers that are too narrow
and I really start to feel them. No blisters & based
on comfort I’d definitely wear them again.
Grip:
Love the grip on the More Miles. Grip seemed
to be perfect for extreme terrain and obstacles.  I
had no major problems. I was scrambling up steep
muddy banks, crossing ropes, climbing walls and
wading through water and I didn’t slip once.
Look/Style:
If you’re looking for shoe porn or
something “eye catching” then these might not
Salomon Speedcross 3
Weight:
I did find them heavy towards the end of
the 20 mile RRDW but then after 20 miles I think
feathers would have felt heavy too. However, the
comfort and the fact I wasn’t suffering afterwards
made the weight well worth it.
Comfort:
Wow. I suffer with a bad lower back. Comfort
and support is crucial to me. Fantastic support and
awesome comfort.
Grip:
I personally think these trainers are perfect for
summer races, or hard ground.
Design:
I would say Salomon have really thought about
their design. They vary from loud blue to black. They
all get covered in mud, but we all like to start a race
looking cool, even if we don’t finish looking the same.
Durability:
Well they’re still in one piece. OK, only 4
runs in, but that’s over 35 miles of obstacle course
abuse, along with lots of off road runs. They still look
as good as the day I got them. The trick is, look after
them, they’ll last!
be for you. A rainbow shoe doesn’t appeal to me so
what some may think they lack in colour choices;
they definitely make up for in functionality. If you’re
looking for no-frills comfort and durability, then the
More Miles will fit the bill.
Durability:
A robust shoe that doesn’t seem to have
any faults.
True to size:
My normal shoe size is a size 9 and I
went up half a size so wore a 9.5 men’s.
Final Thoughts:
If you’re not too worried about weight
or fancy colours then the More Miles is a good
functional trainer for obstacle racing without breaking
the bank. Good grip, extremely comfortable, and if
you’re just getting into OCR or simply want a decent
pair of trainers for those muddy cross country runs
then these will serve you really well.
True to size:
I’m a size 9. I ordered a 9.5 and they
were perfect.
Final Thoughts:
An excellent trainer. Took me a while
to trust the tread as I’m used to a different grip.
These grip really well. Comfort and stability on the
foot is incredible. This trainer well deserves a place
in your shopping cart if it’s not already in your OCR
kit. Trying them on for the first time, I thought – shoe
porn. I noticed how well they fitted, with excellent
support and looking great. I could not wait to run in
them. So I did.
