The programme equips you with the tools and the knowledge to go away and maximise the 2 elements that make you a great Obstacle racer, those 2 elements are your training and nutrition. They teach you to recognise your own personal weaknesses and areas to focus on, how to structure your training, the importance of rest, educate you on your own eating habits and keep you on top of your “homework”. This is all to work towards the same 1 goal. That goal is the OCR World Championships in October 2018 which, this year is held on home soil in Essex. “An abundance of information was emailed prior to the first “lesson” and it was like a “back to school” day as I set off that morning with my bag, notepad, pen and homework ready for assessment. The “classroom” was a busy brain busting day and the hours sped on by as we learnt more and more each passing hour. The day consisted of some pre-assessments to see where we are now, these assessments included testing our basic strength, power, speed, flexibility, balance and highlighted areas to work on. We looked for weaknesses and talked about exercises to keep us injury free, touched on the importance of mind set, planned our races for the coming season, talked training schedules and goal setting, stretching and recovery foam rolling to name just a few.” The classroom for R2W is fully booked for this year but there are training alternatives available with Coach Scotty and the other coaches and with so many workshops and other options open all year round, there is sure to be something that would benefit you.
