RACE : MUD MONSTERS 10 years on the run Looking back to when we discussed starting the business and ‘wanting to try to get some people running through the mud’ to our first event with 350 runners and our primative obstacles to where we are now with an event like nothing we ever imagined, it all seems quite unbelievable. As a family run event we are really passionate about every aspect of the business and making sure our runners have a brilliant time on our course is our main priority, seeing those muddy smiles crossing the finishing line is why we have done this event for so long. 2024 will see our ‘come back’ event, we took a year out from putting on the run while we had our little boy and are more excited than ever about our next event. During our time away we have had time to reflect on the event and business and discuss what we think works, what doesn’t and what can be improved and we are bringing it all together to put on our best event EVER! We are working on bringing the focus back to ‘fun’ and as such have tweaked our distances to 7km and 14km. Obstacles will be tweaked too… all the favourites will still be there but some will be moved, some taken out and one in particular given a great big upgrade (more details will be released soon). As always you can expect everything you know and love about Mud Monsters, our super gooey, brown, sticky mud (of course), our amazing volunteers who are known for the most amazing cheering on and encouragement (a number of our regulars are coming out of marshal retirement for our next event), photos from around the course (which are all available to download for free after the event), finishers medals, a brilliant event village with music playing all day, loads of fun obstacles, a no pressure course and possibly even the mud monster himself who might just catch you out when you least expect it in the woods. Next year will see loads of exciting things happening with the event in the lead up to the day, we can’t say much at the moment but lots of things will be announced over the coming months. The kids run (Mud Monsters Ninja’s) will also see some changes in 2024 and ages 4-12 will be able to join in the muddy fun and get their very own medal.
